Quick answer: 5CO02 tests whether you can use evidence, not opinion, to make people decisions. In a typical recent CIPD brief you answer seven written questions (about 2,900 words). You also complete a data task (about 1,000 words) with calculations and three charts. CIPD updates briefs every year, so check the word counts in your own brief.
| ACs | What the question asks | Where learners slip |
|---|---|---|
| 1.1 – 1.5 | Evaluate evidence-based practice, one analysis tool and method, critical thinking, two decision-making processes and two ethical perspectives. | Defining terms without weighing them up or linking them to the case organisation. |
| 2.1 – 2.3 | Convert data into percentages, present it in three chart types, find patterns in feedback and make recommendations. | Charts with no comment, and recommendations that don't follow from the findings. |
| 3.1 – 3.2 | Appraise financial and non-financial performance measures and explain how people practice adds value. | Listing measures without saying when each one works best. |
Your centre's case study and wording may differ. Send us your brief and we map it to your exact questions.
Most 5CO02 learners are good at HR. Turning that into evidence, numbers and argument at 11pm is the hard part.
You run payroll every month, but percentages and charts for ACs 2.1 and 2.2 feel like a maths exam.
Your answers explain each theory but never weigh it up, so feedback keeps asking for evaluation.
You passed most questions but scored 1 on two. You want to fix only those, and fast.
You must confirm no AI tool wrote your answers or your chart commentary. You want a real person to check your reasoning before you sign.
Send a photo of the question. A mentor explains what the assessor wants.
Quick answer: Treat it as four small jobs: calculate, chart, read the patterns, then recommend. Most marks are lost by skipping the "so what?" after each chart.
Turn turnover and recruitment figures into percentages by department. Example: 18 leavers from 120 staff is 15% turnover.
Use at least three: a bar chart to compare departments, a line chart for trends and a pie chart for shares. Label every axis.
Group comments into themes, count each theme and say what pattern it shows, good and bad.
Link each one to a finding, then add a timeline, a rough cost and how you will measure success.
5CO02 assessors refer answers that define, list or chart without judging. Each slip below has a clear fix.
Most referrals need targeted fixes, not a rewrite. We show which ACs need work.
Four steps with a CIPD mentor, including evenings and weekends.
Send it on WhatsApp or through the form, with your deadline.
A short plan for each question and a fixed quote in AED.
On a call, we agree the structure, sources and examples for each AC.
Comments on your own draft, mapped to every assessment criterion.
We guide and review; you write and submit your own work. You confirm the work is your own and declare any AI use, as CIPD and your centre require, so we never write answers for you.
No payment is needed to ask. The fixed AED quote depends on word count, deadline and draft stage. See how we verify learner reviews.
Employer deadline fixed? A CIPD mentor plans backwards from it, including Ramadan timings.
Quick answer: Evidence from your own organisation works in any country, as long as you anonymise it. We coach the 5CO02 data task on screen share, on UAE time (GMT+4), in evening and weekend slots. The fixed AED quote lists the payment options.
Remove names and staff IDs first. Saudi Arabia and Qatar have personal data protection laws, and so do Oman and Bahrain.
UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies. Say how you protected staff data; it also strengthens your ethics answer for AC 1.5.
If HR records are thin, add a short staff survey. Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and South Africa all have data protection laws to cite.
Learners in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore share their screen and work through percentages and charts in their evening.
Study how a real 5CO02 brief maps to the assessment criteria, then write your own answer with your own workplace evidence.
